Posted March 5, 2014: FC HASENTAL 2014 NPSL REPORT
The 2013 NPSL South West Conference Champions, FC Hasental, take to the field for their first official match of 2014 when they host Santa Clarita Storm in a US Open Cup Qualifier. The game will be played March 8, 7:15PM at Oak Park High School. General admission, $8 for adults, and $2 for kids. Los Conejos need to win 2 qualifiers to return to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The winner of Saturday nights match will play the winner of San Diego Flash & FC Storm to decide which club gets the NPSL Southwest Conference bid.
NEW LOOK CONEJOS: Los Conejos will feature four players from last years team. Midfielders Agustin Cazares, Alberto Rosas, Armando Gaitan, and Oxnard native's, Alberto Anguiano and Moises Orozco will all dawn the orange for the 2014 NPSL season. 2014 marks the return of defender Jonathon Martinez, an original Hasental'er that left for Santa Clara University in 2011. Martinez is expected to pair up with defender Juan Valladolid, an Oxnard native that played 4 years at US Riverside. Juan’s brother, Osvoldo Valladolid and Luis Monroy will be competing for the Keeper position. Look for new comer, Faisal Abduljawad to see time both in the midfield and the defense. CSUN standout, Carlos Benavides will team up with Agustin Cazares and Alberto Rosas in the central midfield, while UCLA standouts, Evan Raynr and Chris Cummings will be augmenting Hasental's attack along side Anguiano and Orozco.
“All these guys are big time players, but more importantly for us, they are all thinking players. They push themselves, constantly ask questions, they want to learn every time they step on the field. The combination of their insight and technique will make for an exciting season. What we have to do as a coaching staff is get them onto one path, create one mind, a singleness of purpose. When insightful, technical players, play for one other with unrelenting competitive spirit, special things happen. We’re all looking forward to the 2014 season.” Said first team coach, Eric Warner.
COACHING STAFF: No changes to last years Coaching Staff. Head Coach, Eric Warner, Assistant Jon Meyers, stay at the helm with Milan Radovic moving to the bench for the season. "Both Jon and Milan understand what we are trying to do. There is so much more going on than coaching to win games. They both have a clear understanding of the detail behind the design that is FC Hasental's style of play." said Warner.
NEW STADIUM: FC Hasental’s first team will be playing their 2014 home games at Thousand Oaks, High School Stadium.
